Andrea Anastasi
Andrea Anastasi -Italian volleyball player, in 2011−2013 head coach of the Poland national team.
In 1981–1991, he played in 141 matches with the Italy national team as a receiver. He finished his sports career in 1993. In 2007−201, he0 coached the Italy men’s national volleyball team.
As a member of the Italy national team, in 1989 he won the European Championship and in 1990 − the World Volleyball Championship. Having finished his career as a volleyball player, in 1993 he started to work as a coach. He successfully coached several Italian clubs. In 1999−2003, he was coach of the Italy national team and led it to win the title of European champion in 1999 and 2003, European vice-champion in 2001, a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney and the World League in 1999 and 2000. He himself was tutored by the Argentinian coach Julio Velasco. Together with the Spain national team, in 2007 he won the title of European champion. In 2011, the Board of the Polish Volleyball Federation appointed him coach of Poland men’s national volleyball team. During the first year of coaching Poland, he won three medals at all the international tournaments in 2011 (bronze medal in the World League finals, bronze medal at the European Championship and silver medal at the World Cup). In the following year, the Poland national team won the gold medal in the World League finals.
