Vladimir Kondra
Władimir Kondra (ros. Владимир Кондра) – (born November 16th 1950 in Vladikavkaz) – former volleyball player from the USSR.
Olympic Champion (1980), Vice-Champion (1976) and bronze medallist (1972). Four-time European Champion (1975, 1977, 1979, 1981). MVP of the European Championship in 1979. Two-time World Champion (1978, 1982).
Having finished his career as an active player, he became coach of the men’s USSR national team (1986). In the 1990’s, he was coaching junior Russian national teams (with the U-19 Team he won gold at the World Junior Championship in Oran). At the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) he was Gennadiy Shipulin’s second coach. Until 2005 he was coaching Fakel Novy Urengoy, with which he took 4th place in the Russian Superleague.
