Włodzimierz Sadalski
Włodzimierz Sadalski – Polish volleyball player, World Champion (Mexico, 1974) and Olympic gold medallist (Montreal, 1976), who played for Płomień Milowice and coached the Finnish national team.
Sporting career
Włodzimierz Sadalski played for AZS Poznań, Skra Warszawa (1966−1974) and Płomień Milowice (1975−1979), where he secured two Polish Champion titles (1977 and 1979), becoming the runner-up in 1975 and 1976. His team also won the CEV Champions League Cup in the 1977/78 season, and came in third in 1978/79.
He played for the Polish national team 186 times in 1970−1977, serving as a substitute player in Mexico City and the second setter in Montreal (the first setter being Wiesław Gawłowski). His team won the World Championship in Mexico (1974) and two European Championship silver medals in Belgrade (1975) and Helsinki (1977). After he left the Polish national team, he moved to Finland, where he played for Tiikerit Kokkola and Yliviskan Kuula, and later coached the Finnish national team (in 1987−1992, securing 8th place in the European Championship of 1991).
Awards and achievements
He received the Golden Medal for Outstanding Sporting Performance twice and was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit.
