Zbigniew Zarzycki
Zbigniew Zarzycki – former member of the Polish national volleyball team, PE teacher, coach. Zbigniew Zarzycki is one of the six Polish volleyball players who took part in three Olympic Games (in 1968, 1972 and 1976), the other five being Ryszard Bosek, Wiesław Gawłowski, Edward Skorek, Paweł Zagumny and Piotr Gruszka.
Awards and achievements
One of the most versatile players, he became famous as the ‘backup star’, as he was never listed among the core six players.
He was selected for the national team 159 times (1968−1976). His accolades include the gold Medal for Outstanding Sporting Performance.
Zbigniew Zarzycki won the World Champion title in Mexico (1974), the gold medal for his performance at the Montreal Olympic Games (1976), and the silver medal at the Prague World Cup (1973).
